My new job

I know, it's been almost a week! You'll understand why shortly...

So last weekend, Adam got his big night out on Friday. Saturday night, Barn Lot Theater (a local community theater a county over) hosted the high school production of High School Musical. Granted, it wasn't the actual cast members or anything, but Aurea didn't care. She just wanted to go watch the play. She had a blast! She sang along to every song and kept getting excited throughout the play. After the play we went to McDonald's. She was so excited to have a big night out with mommy!

Sunday we went to the mall. I needed jeans to start my new job. She got to ride the carousel and finally agreed to let me have her ears pierced! I was so excited! However, as soon as she laid down Monday night the earring came out and would not go back in! They did not pierce it all the way through!! It's okay though, I called and complained to the store and it will be redone for free!! I was highly upset.

Anyway, I began my new job on Monday. I am a Resident Assistant for a residential psychiatric facility for adolescent girls. I am really excited about the job, but I've been so tired all week! I had to work late a couple of days and did not feel like getting on here. Right now I'm training M-F days, but after next week I will be working Wed. 1pm-7pm, Thurs.-Sat. 7am-7pm, off Sun.-Tues. It sounds more complicated than it is, but I'll have 3 days off! Thank goodness I have my parents to help with the kids!

Whew! What a week!!

Wow! You have taken on a job that has the potential to seriously impact the lives of these girls. Many of them have nobody on the outside to whom they can really relate. Nobody they can get honest with and not fear rejection or ridicule. I hope they (the place and the girls) will allow you to be more than just a babysitter and rule keeper. Some of the best progress my daughter has made has been with the aid of some of the residential workers at the various hospitals she's spent time in.

It is a VERY hard job, but you have great parenting skills and that's what a lot of these kids need most.

I will definitely be keeping you in my prayers.
